Schaukelnde Wiesenschnake

Bei meiner letzten Wiesenpirsch fiel mir ein zartes, feingliedriges Tierchen auf, das vor mir auf einem Halm Zuflucht suchte.
Es war eine Wiesenschnake.

Bei näherer Betrachtung sieht sie mit ihren Äuglein sogar niedlich aus
Einen Schnurbart trägt sie auch 🙂

Diese Schnake wippte unentwegt.

Was hatte dieses heftige Schaukeln zu bedeuten?

        1. Wikipedia sagt da was anders, Bruni:
          “Die verbreitete Annahme, dass Schnaken den Menschen „stechen“, ist bereits dadurch widerlegt, dass die Mundwerkzeuge der Schnaken die menschliche Haut nicht durchdringen können. ” – Dann handelt es sich offenbar um andere Tiere?!

    2. The term “Schnake” can be quite confusing, as it is used in different ways in the German language. It’s true that mosquitos sometimes are referred to as “Schnake” in a popular use of language. In zoological terms however, “Schnake” is a different kind of insect. The beauty on Gerhard’s picture does not sting and suck blood. 🙂

        I should habve reffered to it as “Tipula paludosa” – but who wants to read the Latin name.

        But who wants to read a Latin name?

        If you have such an animal in the room, especially at night, it’s annoying and ugly. Once I angrily drove it to a spider’s web in the evening, that was 3 years ago. I still remember it.

        1. Sometimes these terms can be helpful. So why not add the Latin names in parentheses?

          It can be annoying to have them indoors, yes. There are different ways to get rid of them. At least, your method was better than the use of insecticides. 😉
